Ari was an amazing and kind tour guide. Funny and considerate with a clear knowledge of the important info. He was especially amazing with my mom who was scared the whole time. This experience was so beautiful. Thank you thank you Ari! The only negative is that they do not allow any phones or cameras for photos but then the pictures are $100. All 5 stars go to Ari our tour guide and the beautiful preservation of nature.
A must see! We Loved this experience!!!
Wow!!!! Where do I start??! My favorite parts were the views of this historical, natural path and Paulina! She was able to turn a guide into an experience! This is a definite must see in life!!!
Best way to spend your money in Playa
My group of 9 did the plus tour. It was amazing and totally worth the money. One of the best things I’ve ever done. Jorge (of the jungle if you wish to book with him) was a great tour guide. I highly recommend booking him and this tour.
This tour is the most extreme adventure you can do at Rio Secreto and there is nothing commercialized about it. If someone in your group does not ride a bike or the are unsteady or unsure of themselves Do Not Book This Tour or separate your group into different adventures. This is a 12 hour day from the time you are picked up at your hotel till the time you get back. Part of this is the horrendous traffic in Cancun right now due to a 18 month roads construction project. To start you are picked up from your hotel and driven 1 hr 15 mins roughly to the place south of Playa Del Carmen. Upon arrival your driver will get you wrist bands and escorted you to a little continental breakfast ( fruit, breads, coffee, juices). After breakfast you’ll be driven further to the start of the experience. You will be provided with a helmet and a back pack containing a wet suit, water shoes, a mask, a flashlight and a dry bag. They will also provide water, Gatorade, and a snack lunch ( sandwich/banana, small chocolates, and a snack bar). Lockers are provided for everything you brought. You’ll not be able to take your phone with you. There is a photographer assigned to your group who will take the photos. If you have your own snorkel bring it and throw in the back pack they provide. You’ll be happy you have when you reach the final destination. After you are suited up you’ll bike ride a muddy rocky trail up and down hills through the rain forest and into a cave with sharp turns and low ceilings. After biking you’ll hike in and out of caves and through rain forests for a couple hours until you reach the end of the trail and the begging of water. Along the way the guide will give info on the flora fauna and formation of the caves. Upon reaching the water potion you’ll suit up and headed out. Portions of wading, walking on dry land and swimming through the amazing cave. The final cavern is where I’d recommend the snorkel ( not provided) just to keep your face under longer. Our guide asked if we would like to meditate. All lights off floating on our backs in this cavern, listening to the water drips and our breathing. A really great experience. After reaching the final cavern and spending time there it is time to turn around and do it all again in reverse. When you get back to the original drop off location there is a lunch waiting for you. Overall an incredible experience. I hope this helped.
Great cave adventure.
This was one of the best tour experiences I ever had and, in my 69 years, I have taken a great many tours in many countries. It is definitely a tour for people who are ready to bike and hike over some uneven ground and through caves. That being said, the guide we had was very accommodating to my slower pace. The cave was beautiful but what made the trip memorable was our guide, Daniel. He was very knowledgeable about botany, caves and underground rivers. You could tell he was passionate about his job and that made all the difference. (Maybe, calling me "wonder woman" the whole trip helped a little. It did help motivate me on that bike ride.) You bike about 7 kms. Then hike through caves which is not too rough but I did fashion myself a walking stick because some of the terrain is a bit uneven. You are provided with helmets and water shoes and a wet suit for the underground swimming. Keep in mind that that you will bike and hike the exact reverse of what you biked and hiked in when you leave. (almost sorry we did not know that until we were done). I would say this tour is best for adults with some level of fitness. Again it is all about the guide and we had the best!!!!
