We booked our excursions through Go majestic (at majestic elegance Costa mujeres). We were offered buy 2 get 1 free, which was great, seeing as they are pricey excursions.
We highly recommend cancun adventures because they are an extremely safe, knowledgeable and experienced company. We felt very looked after and it was very organised.
Be aware that if you’re up north near costa mujeres, you’ll be picked up at like 6am because you’ll be the first pick up. It was then about 3 and 1/2 hours to pick up other people, meet in cancun and pick up some more people, and then get to first stop which was Coba! But all of the popular Mayan cities are just far away from Costa mujeres so that can’t be helped.
Once at Coba, we got a very thorough tour from our guide! And, Included was a ‘taxi’ (tricycle with seats) from the start, to the main structure, and back. You got taken to the main structure for your guide to tell you about it and then got the free time so on the way back the taxi guy would stop off at all the structures for you, and waited for you! It was so lovely actually. We preferred visiting Coba to visiting Tulum and chichen itza in a way, because of the cute lil tricycle journey! you get time to yourself to buy souvenirs and take pictures which was amazing. Our tour guide was Garry and our drive was Bryan (sexy buffalo). Garry kept us informed the whole journey and was so lovely and so knowledgeable about the Mayan culture. They both also had such a good sense of humour and joked lots! I knew nothing about the mayans and learnt so much from Garry.
After, we got driven to Akumal bay which is a protected reef where they pretty much guarantee you’ll see turtles. It was very safe and life jackets are mandatory. A certified guide took us around the reef, and Garry came in too. We saw some fish too, not tonnes, but really cool ones!! They provide all snorkelling equipment. Take a T-shirt if your burn easily because you can’t wear sun cream in the bay/reef.
Then, we journeyed to the beach club that cancun adventures own, it was down a very long bumpy road. Food was really good there and the beach club was cute to relax for a little bit. (Make sure you eat the snacks on the van (bananas and cookies) or bring some of your own, because lunch won’t be till like 2:30pm). Also, food choices are chicken or vegetable burrito, mango and prawn ceviche, or beef or chicken tacos.
Then, being in Costa mujeres, we travelled back to cancun to switch vans (they want you to get back to your hotel as quick as possible so they put you in a different van depending on where your hotel is). We then were of course the last drop off back home.
Overall, a really great trip (lasted from 6am till 5:30pm for us). Thank you Garry and Bryan! Also, when we were the last couple in the van, going allll the way back up to our hotel in Costa mujeres, Bryan bought some nuts off someone on the side of the road and gave us some too. Bryan was so so kind!
