Bacalar

Bacalar is a beautiful Magic Town that stands out for the beauty of its natural attractions, it is the perfect place for lovers of nature and tranquility as well as being full of history, adventure and culture.

The artistic and cultural part of Bacalar can be seen in the Church of San Joaquín, which dates back to the 18th century and where every year the Feast of San Joaquín, patron saint of Bacalar, is celebrated during the month of August. In the same way in the House of Culture, which is a 19th century mansion where workshops on folk dance, choral and theatrical poetry are currently offered; and crafts.

Fuerte San Felipe Bacalar

Its constructions enclose 261 years of historical memory carried out by Mayans, Spaniards and pirates from all over the world. It was designed by the Italian Juan Podio, and built with volcanic, marine and limestone stones; It has 11 cannons, although in the past it had 34, placed in places such as the Baluarte San José and the Baluarte de Santa Ana. As a museum, it boasts Mayan archaeological pieces, weapons, ammunition, everyday utensils, plans, maps and information cards. It exhibits a mural by the master Elio Carmichael, in which the most relevant historical events of the region can be observed.

Lake Bacalar

Also called "Laguna de Los Siete Colores", it is a huge expanse of shallow water, with very soft white sand. It presents a slight wave of barely perceptible blue tones where the composition of the crystals present generates a simply fascinating spectacle.

This lagoon is part of a lagoon system approximately 55 kilometers long that communicates with Chetumal Bay through the Hondo River and the Chaac estuary. Some private residences have been built throughout, and hotels are normally crowded on weekends and during vacation times.
