Overview

The archeological site of Tulum, an ancient Mayan port overlooking the crystal waters of the Caribbean, is a must-see on a visit to the Yucatan. Enjoy a detailed historical tour just as the site opens, when it is virtually empty and the morning light over the ocean is a treat.

We follow up with a visit to an exclusive cenote hidden in the jungle. This is an incredible insight into the underground world of the peninsula, where we walk, wade and swim in the clearest of waters, surrounded on all sides by the wondrous limestone formations that create beautiful textures in the rock. A close-up and exclusive experience of the unique environment of the underground rivers will leave you with a lasting impression of this magical world. The open sink hole in the middle of a labyrinthine cavern and the winding paths that lead us to it will delight your senses.

Amazing Time

We traveled to Playa Del Carmen and did a day trip to Tulum to tour with Mexico Kan Tours. We did the half day tour with Cesar! It ended up being just my husband, myself and another tourist from the states that was on our tour. 100% recommend! Started the day by meeting at the tour office, got fitted for bikes and helmets, were greeted by the most kind staff and offered bananas and homemade breakfast snacks. Each tourist was also provided with an additional water bottle, you may also leave items to pick up for the cenote at the tour office where they keep everything secured. The first leg of the journey was a 25 min bike ride to the Mayan ruins - Cesar was awesome! He had amazing knowledge and passion about the history. The ruin tour was beautiful (approx 1.5 hours). We loved learning that Cesar is working toward being a history teacher - my husband and I are teachers too! After the Mayan ruin tour we biked about 25min back to town to a local spot for lunch, delicious food! Headed back to the tour office (10min ride) and grabbed our towels and backpacks for the cenote! The ride to the cenotes was about 30-35min through the city and some trails. The cenote was beautiful! Well worth it!

TIPS:
*Bring EXTRA water
*Bring your backpack to carry EXTRA water and BUG SPRAY to the Mayan ruins - we got eaten alive by the mosquitos because we only sprayed one layer early in the AM and had left our gear at the office.
*It's HOT HOT HOT in the summer so sunscreen and hats are a must!
*There are picnic areas at the cenote so you can totally bring your gear with you there too!
Mayan Underworld Tour w/Marco

My girlfriend and I arrived in Tulum ready to explore. Tulum has so many people on the street trying to sell you tours but you never know how legit these booths are. So we were happy to see a professional office on one of the main roads “Mexico Khan Tours.” We decided to do the Tulum Ruins with the cenote and zip lining which was awesome. Our tour guide was Marco and I can honestly say he made our trip! His knowledge, personality, experience and understanding of the Mayan Culture was so impressive we booked another tour, the “Mayan Underworld” and requested his services. Everything from the underground caves to the food he prepared for us was incredible. Thank you Marco! Exploring Tulum as our tour guide was the best part of our vacation. This company is lucky to have you - best of wishes. If you book I highly recommend asking for Marco, you will not be disappointed.

This tour wouldn’t have been the same without our tour guide Iber. Informative on the Mayan sites, great personality, and just an overall blessing to have guiding us.

We visited 3 Cenotes and had a lovely homemade lunch - Our guide was knowledgable about the Mayan history and cenote historical importance. Was definitely a highlight of the trip!
